Hekhal Publishing Co. is more than a press—it’s a partnership.

We exist to bring visionary projects to life through a process that blends academic rigor, personal guidance, and wide-reaching distribution. As an upstart publishing house, Hekhal is intentionally defying the conventions of traditional academic presses—often slow, impersonal, and cost-prohibitive. We believe the future of publishing lies in agility, collaboration, and integrity. Our goal is to empower authors to produce works that are both intellectually robust and spiritually transformative, without the barriers or bureaucracy of outdated publishing models.

At Hekhal, we believe that great ideas shouldn’t remain hidden because of gatekeeping or prohibitive costs. That’s why we’ve built a process that combines peer-reviewed credibility with the flexibility and reach of independent publishing—all while ensuring that authors retain ownership, creative freedom, and higher earnings from their work.

Just as our name evokes the “Hekhal,” the sacred temple where heaven and earth met, our publishing process is a meeting place for vision and realization—where your idea can take shape, find its voice, and reach readers around the world.

OUR COMMITMENT

Rigorous Peer Review

Every manuscript undergoes a structured peer review process—a minimum of two qualified academic reviewers, and more when the project demands it. This ensures that all Hekhal titles meet or exceed professional standards of accuracy, integrity, and relevance. Reviewers evaluate clarity, originality, and scholarly contribution, while editors work closely with authors to maintain accessibility for both academic and general readers. Our goal is to preserve academic excellence without sacrificing readability or voice.

No Author Fees

Like any reputable academic or trade press, we cover all production, editorial, and design costs. Hekhal is not a self-publisher, and we never ask authors to pay to publish. You bring the manuscript—we bring the expertise, infrastructure, and resources to bring it to life. This means that from submission to publication, authors focus entirely on their craft and message, not on invoices or marketing gimmicks.

Low Overhead, Higher Royalties

Traditional publishers often rely on expensive print runs, storage costs, and complex supply chains that drive up prices for readers while reducing author earnings. Hekhal uses industry-leading print-on-demand and distribution systems(Amazon, IngramSpark, and others) to keep costs low and profits high. The result? Books that remain affordable and available globally, while authors receive a significantly higher share of each sale than at most academic or trade presses.

Global Distribution

All Hekhal titles are distributed through the same catalogues and network used by major academic and trade publishers. This ensures availability to bookstores, libraries, and retailers worldwide. In addition, books appear on major online platforms such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Kobo, and Bookshop.org, with options for digital and print editions. Whether your reader is in Jerusalem or Johannesburg, your work is just a search away.

Streamlined Timeline

Whereas traditional, brick-and-mortar publishers often require 18–24 months from acceptance to release, our streamlined workflow dramatically reduces that timeline. From final manuscript to printed book, many Hekhal projects are published within three to six months. This efficient turnaround is possible because our team handles editorial, design, and distribution in-house, ensuring quality without unnecessary delays.

Personalized Author Coaching

Every author who partners with Hekhal receives individualized support throughout the publishing journey. Our editors and advisors provide guidance from concept development through final layout—offering feedback on structure, argument, style, and design. We even provide free one-on-one author coaching, helping writers refine their proposals, strengthen their voices, and navigate the publishing process confidently.

Collaborative Partnership

We see publishing as a creative and theological collaboration. Authors remain active participants at every stage, ensuring that the finished work reflects both their personal vision and Hekhal’s shared standards of excellence. From peer review to cover design, we believe the best projects emerge from mutual trust, open dialogue, and shared passion.

THE HEKHAL PUBLICATION PROCESS

1. Proposal Submission

Begin by submitting a short concept proposal or completed manuscript for preliminary review. We evaluate every submission for clarity, originality, theological depth, and fit within Hekhal’s mission. Authors are then invited into conversation about next steps.

2. Peer Review and Editorial Evaluation

Accepted proposals enter our double-blind peer review process. Reviewers assess scholarly rigor, clarity, and contribution to the field. Our editorial team synthesizes reviewer feedback, then works directly with the author to strengthen the project while preserving its distinct voice.

3. Production and Design

Once accepted, manuscripts move into production. We handle every detail: interior formatting, cover design, ISBN and Library of Congress registration, and metadata entry for global catalogues. Authors receive full proofs for approval before printing.

4. Publication and Distribution

Finalized titles are published simultaneously in print and digital formats, distributed globally through Ingram’s catalogue and online platforms. Within days, your work becomes available through major retailers and libraries worldwide.

5. Promotion and Partnership

We collaborate with authors on launch strategies—creating press materials, social media assets, and outreach content to help your work find its audience. Hekhal titles are featured on our website, in newsletters, and across digital platforms, maximizing visibility and long-term discoverability.
